Tent Information
Comfort camping
For most people,
comfort is a top desire
in a tent
and
it is also one of our hallmarks!
Our
GT-versions in particular are appreciated for their generous space. Those using their tent in
winter realise the importance of that little bit of extra room. Ample space is
always convenient and it is our philosophy that a tent should provide adequate
room for the amount of people, including their gear, for which the tent is
intended.
A clothes line,
inner pockets and vents with no-see-um mesh are just
the kinds of
details that make living in a tent a little more pleasant. Optional footprints
in the vestibule also add to your
comfort.
We consider the
shape of each tent when we determine the size of it. The length of the
groundsheet depends very much on the angle of the walls. Here the aspect of
weight comes in and we balance this against design and space. The most
advantageous shape is with two vertical entrances in the inner tent, which
allows you to fully use the entire groundsheet area. Keron and Tarra are good
examples of this. Models with slanting walls or
sloping ends are compensated
by
a greater length in the groundsheet.
Our two-person
tents have a groundsheet width of 52 inches and a minumum length of 83 inches
when the tent has vertical entrances. With a slanting foot end the inner is
longer. This is how we consistently design our two-person tents so they are
adequately sized for any trip. At a squeeze even three people will fit.
The available width
per person in our three-person tents is somewhat less but still wide enough (64
inches) to accomodate three people in comfort.
On
longer trips with a lot of winter gear we believe chosing a size up from the
amount of people recommended can at times be a good solution.
Should you want to gather a whole group for an evening chat, you can partially
or entirely remove the inner tent for more space.
Storage space
varies between the different models, but generally there is at least enough
room for the gear of the number of people for which the tent is intended. In the GT-vestibules of some tents there is even enough space
for two bicycles and plenty of equipment (Keron 4 GT).
